Text Reader

For books available in text format, TAB2Read provides a dedicated text reader with multiple voice options and reading controls.

Reading Modes

System Voice (Default)

The book is read using your device’s built-in screen reader voice (VoiceOver). This is the fastest option with no additional processing.

AI Voice

Switch to a natural AI-generated voice for a more comfortable extended reading experience. See AI Voice Reader for details.

Text Reader Controls

Play / Pause — start or stop reading
Previous / Next Page — navigate through the book
Page Picker — jump to any page number
Search — find specific text within the book
Bookmarks — mark pages for later reference
Font Size — adjustable for low-vision users
Reading Progress — current page and total page count

The text reader supports multiple navigation methods:

Swipe to move between pages
Page picker to jump to a specific page
Search to find text within the book
Table of contents (when available) to jump to sections
Bookmarks to return to saved positions

Position Sync

Your reading position is automatically saved and synchronized across devices. If you stop reading on your phone, you can continue from the same page on your iPad.

Supported Text Formats

DAISY fulltext (synchronized text and audio)
Plain text documents from the library catalog
BRF text content (displayed as readable text or Braille)
