Braille Books

TAB2Read supports Braille Ready Format (BRF) books, providing a native reading interface for users with refreshable Braille displays.

BRF (Braille Ready Format) is a standard file format for digital Braille content. BRF books contain Braille-encoded text that can be:

  • Displayed on a refreshable Braille display connected to your device
  • Rendered on screen in ASCII Braille or Unicode Braille characters
  • Read with VoiceOver for users who prefer audio

When a Braille display is connected to your device:

  1. Open a BRF book from your bookshelf or library
  2. The content renders for Braille display output
  3. Navigate using your Braille display’s controls
  4. The reader tracks your position automatically

For VoiceOver users without a Braille display, BRF books can still be read:

  • VoiceOver reads the content aloud using its auto-read mode
  • Content is presented page by page with accessible navigation
  • All reader controls (bookmarks, search, page navigation) work the same
  • ASCII Braille — standard ASCII representation of Braille characters
  • Unicode Braille — visual Braille dot patterns displayed on screen

Toggle between these modes in the reader settings.

The Braille reader includes the same controls as the text reader:

  • Page navigation (previous / next / jump to page)
  • Search within the book
  • Bookmark management
  • Reading position saved automatically

BRF books are available through the TAB Thailand library. Look for books marked with the Braille format indicator in library search results or book detail pages.
